Awesome cosplay video.

I was on Anime Vice when I saw this awesome video that someone posted. This guy just grabbed random cosplayers and did fight scenes with them and added effects to them. It's really good and is worth watching.

Persona 4 anime is on the way

It may be old news to some people but I just found out that there is a Persona 4 anime in the works. It seems to be following closely to the game which is a bad or good thing depending on if you think they may mess it up or not. The last Persona anime Persona: Trinity Soul aired back in 2008 and took place ten years after Persona 3, It is due out this fall in japan.

Famitsu interview with Hideo Kojima

1up posted parts of an interview from Famitsu with the creator of the Metal Gear games Hideo Kojima. In it Kojima talks about the differences in game development between the west and japan. He says "To put it in an extreme fashion, Americans like games where you have a gun and you're shooting at space aliens," he said. "If you don't understand why that's fun, then you shouldn't be making games for the world market; you don't need to. I mean, Japanese people might say 'Why space aliens?', but Americans will counter with 'What's with these games featuring these feminine-looking boys fighting in Japan with these huge swords?' It's no wonder the target audience for a lot of games is getting so compartmentalized." I suggest you give it a read.

The Wall

I was playing Torchlight on my xbox 360 and it got to the point where I could simply no longer keep playing. I love the game and finally got near the end when I hit the wall where no matter how much I used to enjoy it I simply got bored. It is very rare for this to happen to me. It is not like I never get bored but when I enjoy a game this much it is very odd. I still see what makes it fun but I know I will not finish it any time soon if ever. The difficulty curve is probably what did it to me. The first time I played it I was on the normal difficulty but it was so easy I was not having any fun so I bumped it up to hard. It felt like the right difficulty for me but by the end of the game I am dieing in only 2 or 3 hits. Now it is like the Diablo games where I have to hammer on the potion button ALL the time. It stops being challenging and starts feeling cheap. Things like this make me wonder how game companies miss things like this so often. Have you ever had this happen to you?

Microsoft has come out and said that the HD remake of Halo 1 will support Kinect. They have offered no details on what it will be used for but say that it will not effect the core gameplay. Thoughts?

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD gameplay video

Konami released some footage of the HD upgraded version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. It will be released later this year as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD collection that includes Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3.

It is great that they are doing this because Peace Walker was such a great game but not many people got to play it since it was only on the PSP. It will be released on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 as a retail and downloadable title.

Free Mortal Kombat DLC

The team behind the new Mortal Kombat released a new trailer showing off some free character skins for Sektor and Cyrax. They will be included with the free Compatibility pack on June 21st.

Co-op mode in Mass Effect 3?

Eurogamer posted an article about rumors they have heard about a possible Mass Effect 3 multi-player mode. It is supposedly a 4 player mode where the players work together to fight off incoming waves of enemies. Now lots of games have had this type of mode ever since horde mode in Gears of War 2. Most people don't remember that Mass Effect 1 had a similar mode as extra DLC but it was single-player only.

Bob Hoskins greatest regret? Super Mario Brothers

Over on the Guardian they have an interview with Bob Hoskins the actor who played Mario in the terrible Super Mario Brothers movie. When asked what his biggest disappointment was its not hard to guess that he said Super Mario Brothers. If you have not seen that movie then I envy you. I do not remember much of it but I do remember how bad it was.

Free to play games now on Steam

Steam issued a press release a few days ago saying that free to play games are now available through the Steam service. It is a pretty big jump for them and is welcome news. This is just another reason why they are currently the best place to shop for digital downloads of  video games.

My thoughts on Infamous 2

I recently finished playing through Infamous 2 for the Playstation 3 and thought I would share what I thought about it. It has been 2 years or so since the first Infamous released and it is still one of my favorite games. Infamous 2 takes what made the first one great and builds on it without changing that much. It starts a few months after the first game and the main plot revolves around the arrival of The Beast. After a run in with The Beast at the start of the game Cole MacGrath and his best friend Zeke head to New Orleans inspired New Marais in order to gain as much power as he can so he can defeat The Beast. Now as I said earlier this follows the same gameplay as the first game with a few new tweaks and powers. There is nothing radically different but that is a very good thing considering the first game was so good. It seemed to be slightly longer than the first game and if you played the first one you know that it was not a short game at all. I personally found the story a little more by the numbers then the first game but I was expecting that after the first one dropped such a big twist ending. This one tries but does not quite reach that level. That said it was still a very entertaining story and the new characters are very well written and are a personal highlight for me. If you enjoyed the first one you will enjoy this one too. If you never played the first one I would suggest playing through it since the story is so vital to the sequel but it is not required. They do an adequate job explaining what happened in the first one.

A person with Asperger's syndrome talks about how videogames help him cope

There is a great article over on Giant Bomb about how someone who has Asperger's uses video games to help him socialize. It gives great insight on how video games can help people in ways you would not think they could. It is a great read and you should check it out at http://www.giantbomb.com/news/into-the-matrix-life-games-and-dealing-with-aspergers/3394/

Welcome to my first blog post

Hello; Blue Penguin here. This blog post will give you a rough idea about what this blog will be about. This is my first blog so forgive me if it takes me sometime to get into the swing of things. This blog will be about all things gaming. I will share news I find, post reviews, videos, and I hope to have my own podcast up and running in the future. Over the last few years I have gotten very good at finding news before anyone else and thought it would be fun to have a blog about gaming so I can share what I learn with others. Gaming has always been a huge part of my life and it is one of the few things I am truly passionate about. I hope to post at least once a day and my end goal is to eventually have my own website. Before this post drags on I would like to thank you for reading this and please check back daily for new posts.
